Inter-Ac versus D.C. Challenge

Two of the nation’s premier leagues went head-to-head over the weekend with teams from Pennsylvania’s Inter-Ac taking on Washington D.C.’s IAC. The leagues went 3-3 with  Germantown Academy (Pa.), Haverford School (Pa.), and Springside Chestnut Hill (Pa.) coming out on top for the Inter-Ac. Georgetown Prep (Md.), Landon (Md.), and St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes (Va.) won their games for the IAC.

The premier matchup was between the defending champions of their respective leagues. Georgetown Prep defeated defending Inter-Ac champion Malvern Prep (Pa.) 10-9 in overtime.

Malvern Prep went up early, leading 5-1 midway through the second quarter. The Hoyas defense tightened and the offense got five goals from Nathan Kabiri and three from Colin Burns to bring the team back. Burns’ third goal of the game knotted the game a 7-7 in the third quarter. Kabiri scored back-to-back goals in the fourth to give his team a 9-7 lead.

Thomas Arata scored the game-winning goal in overtime to send the Hoyas home with the victory.

Joseph Sheridan scored three goals for the Friars.

North Carolina Record Set

Gavyn Sandlin from Vance Charter (N.C.) set a North Carolina record with an 18-point performance against Roxboro Community (N.C.) on March 18. The sophomore scored 12 goals and dished out six assists in a 30-1 victory.

Sandlin’s teammate, Ryan Parker, added 14 points in the victory. The senior scored seven goals and dished out seven assists. Senior Jacob Seaman won 24-of-28 faceoffs to lead the team.
