Terry Crowley Joins The 500 Club

St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla.) Head Coach Terry Crowley earned the 500th win of his high school coaching career with a 17-0 victory over Western-Davie (Fla.) on March 20.

He is the first coach in state history to reach 500 career wins and is the 16th coach overall to reach that mark. The Raiders are 7-4 this season.

Crowley is in his 14th season as the Raiders’ leader. Laxnumbers.com does not have his entire year-by-year record, but since the 2016 season, Crowley has gone 129-25. 

News From Around the Country

Bishop Stang (Mass.) named its new head coach last week, according to DartmouthWeekToday.com. Nathan Melo takes over the program after spending 15 years as an assistant coach for the boys and girls teams at New Bedford (Mass.). Melo takes over from Shaun Stanton who led the program since the 2019 season.

Mike Friel will be the new head coach at Radnor (Pa.), taking over for the legendary John Begier who stepped down after the 2023 season. Friel is the Athletic Director at Radnor, but previously coached at Springfield-Delco (Pa.) where he compiled a record of 112-48 from 2003 to 2010. Friel won two Central Athletic League titles during his tenure.

Radnor has won three-straight PIAA titles after going 70-7 over the last three years under Begier. Begier was 263-106 at Radnor.

Ardrey Kell (N.C.) notched the program’s 200th win with a 12-3 victory over Providence (N.C.). Head Coach Tim Price has has guided the program and recorded 16 consecutive winning seasons. The program is 200-100 since it was founded in 2007.

Notable Performances

Central Bucks West (Pa.) senior Matt Jacobsen had an impressive game in a 15-7 win over Easton (Md.). Jacobsen won 15-of-17 faceoffs and also scored four goals and dished out three assists in the victory.

Trey Toscano put up 27 points in three games to help Bishop Verot (Fla.) improve to 12-0 on the season. The senior started his run with a 10-point game (7g, 3a) against Riverview Sarasota (Fla.). He followed that up a day later with a seven-goal game against Lakewood Ranch (Fla.) and then put up 10 points (8g, 2a) against Manatee (Fla.).

Player Milestones

Connor Castle scored the 100th goal of his career for Fuquay-Varina (N.C.). In his third varsity season, Castle has 175 points and 103 goals.

Tyler Fields scored the 100th goal of his Athens Drive (N.C.) career last week.

Kennett (Pa.) senior Bo Freebery scored the 100th goal of his career with a four-goal outing against Owen J. Roberts (Pa.).

Nate Vella reached 100 career points with an eight-goal effort to help Liberty (Pa.) to a 13-2 win over Saucon Valley (Pa.).

Ari Villano from Summit (Ore.) set a school record with 14 points against West Salem (Ore.) last week. Villano, a junior, dished out eight assists and scored six goals in a 16-3 win.

Junior Luke Schreiner reached 100 career points last week for Heritage (N.C.). Schreiner put up four points in a 15-11 win over Millbrook (N.C.) to reach the mark.
